Radlett 3s put in their best performance of the season comfortably overcoming Potters Bar 3s who started the day above Craig Steven Jennings men.

After a tour of Dame Alice Owen school and being slightly grumpy, skipper Craig won the toss and without bothering to walk to the wicket 200 yards away, elected to bat first (shock). Prediciting a par score was difficult, the outfield had more clover than grass. Ariel the way forward, sack off the cultured cover drives. Get Adnan up the order.

The first few overs of nibble coupled with the slowness of the wicket had the old sage heads saying 140. Akib and James patiently started off, both succumbed to being beaten by pace (lack of) and at 60 for 2 at drinks, the 140 looked a long way off but the game turned when Adnan forgot the sage heads advice of get yourself in and started testing the arms of the umpires. A quick fire 40 gave the innings impetus but whereas Adnan was the spark, Rhys Kanbi was the fire as he hit a superb 76 in his first game since returning from school. He was typically strong off his legs but looks far more assured and confident batting this season (thank you Winchester) - unlikely the 3s will see him again. He was well supported by Sidd, who allayed any fears that we would lose him in the clover by scoring a sensible 20 and 'we might get 160' quickly turned to 'maybe 180' to a 'run a ball gets us 200' Adnan's prodige Dev hit his first ball for 6, Craig's 17 and the Colonels 7 saw us scramble to 204 - well batted lads

Potters Bar's start was polar opposite to ours as they rapidly set off in chase of a unlikely victory. The first 5 overs went for 25 but the introduction of Adnan closed the door quickly. A good catch by the skipper was followed by a bizarre run out when the opening batsman decided to end the number 3s day, hitting the ball directly to our best fielder Rhys and calling a single. The question to the umpire was more had they crossed rather than was he out. This bought the experienced Mike Palmer to the crease who clearly knowing what might come decided to drop anchor. He finished with 28 red ink off 88 balls. Our bowling was good with the youngest and oldest seamers in the team Shiv and Brownie tying the batsman in knots who other than Palmer and skipper Pett decided that a quick game is a good game (and it is!) Shiv had the amazing figures of 3 for 7 of his 8 overs - all bowled - note to youngsters bowling straight works. Brownie comparatively expensive with 3 for 16 off his 8. Little Sid and Large (Tall) Eddie bowled well with little reward. Catches were well held (only 1 drop catch!), particularly Edward taking a steepler off his dad. We couldn't quite find the final wicket but with the Bar restricted to 112 , the final victory margin was 93.
