Finishing on a High

The U15s final competitive outing of 2026 saw us host Berkhamsted on Sunday afternoon.

Guess what…we lost the toss, and guess what…we fielded first. A ragged opening three overs saw us lose the new cherry after 5 balls, concede 32 runs and yet claim 2 wickets. ‘Highlights cricket’ has never been a more appropriate phrase to use. Things fortunately calmed down from there on in, and in amongst it all was Aryan, bowling a high quality spell. He closed with figures of 3-0-5-2, with both wickets bowled. Sahas (1-19) had earlier clean bowled their opener. It was tough in the heat, although, as the innings went on our bowling and fielding kept improving. The final total of 125-5 would be inviting for our batters. Other wicket takers were Arhaan (1-2), and Arhaan took a catch off Dylan as he finished with 1-13.

Captain Aarav looked like a man on a mission as he tucked the first two balls of the innings off his hip to collect consecutive boundaries, he would however perish shortly afterwards for 14 (off 11 balls) having misjudged his shot selection. With a second wicket falling shortly thereafter, it would need a careful couple of overs from the new men, Arhaan & Sahas. They duly obliged and quickly found their rhythm. On an outfield that batters would wish to take with them everywhere they went, Arhaan (28* from 22) reached retirement effortlessly and Sahas (24 from 21) would have done, but for an attempt to woo the crowd, as his reverse sweep attempt found the hands of short third man. He would be the last wicket to fall as Henry (25* from 15) made hay, and Harry (a run a ball 11) and Dylan saw us home with plenty to spare. Albeit it our opponents had been a man light for the duration of the match. A mighty impressive performance from Radlett from 1 to 11!

M.O.M. Our batting was very good today, so it was down to one of three, but courtesy of his extras (a wicket and a catch) and by no means overlooking the star credentials of his batting, it goes to Arhaan
