We entertained Leverstock Green on Sunday afternoon in another absolute nail biter. Our final A league game of the campaign.

Aarav won the toss, and unsure as to how the pitch would play, elected to field. We again made an impressive start, Sahas (1-6) taking the new ball bowled a beautiful line and was rewarded with an early wicket. Akein at the other end also claimed a scalp and his figures of 1-8 continued his fine form with ball in hand. Much like Friday, we took regular wickets. Lucas (1-13) deservedly claimed one, as did Aarav (1-15), Zach (1-19) and Rohan (2-20), who mopped up two in the final overs. Aarav contributed an eye catching direct hit run out and a catch, and Zach pouched a well judged catch in the deep. The final total of 115-8 looked perfectly gettable.

Credit Leverstock Green, their bowling was disciplined from ball one and whilst we were always up around the run rate required, we never managed to gain clear water, meaning one or two bad overs could be our undoing. Aarav and Akein again made a solid start. We did lose Akein for 16 but Aarav (40*) was putting in the hard yards at the other end reaching retirement as we entered the home straight. Luke S batted well for 19 and when Zach went for 13, the pendulum was swinging back our opponents way. It came down to 12 needed from the final over. A bye was scrambled off the first ball and the game would now be down to Henry. What an effort he produced, two, two, and then a four that split their two boundary riders with laser precision, and then two. Scores level, with the final delivery to come. Henry duly creamed the ball towards their short mid wicket, the winning run all but guaranteed, only for their fielder to take a blinder millimetres off the ground. The rug pulled well and truly from beneath our feet. What a game of cricket though!
