For the first half a dozen overs of this match we had our fingers, thumbs, toes and whatever else we could find, firmly on the self destruct button. Our decision to bat first was looking to have drastically back fired and it was left to our tail to restore some respectability to proceedings. Initially it was Nimay who got his head down and he found a calming ally, in the injury returning and slightly late arriving, Rohan N. When Nimay departed for 14 our total had recovered somewhat to 40-8. What was then great to see was Coby and Aymas valuing their wickets and compiling partnerships with Rohan, who was taking on the role of chief run scorer. Partnerships of 23 & 17 allowed us to reach a total of 80, and we ended up an over shy of lasting the distance. Rohan was left on a smartly made, and in the context of our innings, a vital 31 not out.
We needed to put in a high quality bowling and fielding performance in order to defend our total and whilst there were encouraging performances from Ben (2-0-5-0) and Amyas (2-0-9-0) and the wicket taking Coby (1-10), our bowling, and to a lesser extent our fielding, suffered from regular indiscipline which ultimately did not allow us to exert any pressure on our opponents. Adi (1-14) picked up the other wicket to fall, but we ended up a distant second.
M.O.M. Rohan N was the clear stand out
