On Sunday we entertained Chorleywood, and it proved to be a largely underwhelming performance from Radlett.
Having been asked to field, we made a promising start with Luke S claiming two early wickets to finish with figures of 2-19. Chorleywood were always progressing at a steady pace, and it took a wonder ball from Amyas to alter the flow of the game, he produced an unplayable inswinging yorker to remove their well set captain. We were however unable to wrestle any significant momentum back our way as despite regular wickets falling, runs continued to accumulate with relative ease. Amyas picked up a second for figures of 2-16, and Eeswar (1-18) and Harry (1-9) were the other wicket takers, whilst the 7th and final wicket to fall was a last ball run out from Issa. Dylan claimed another catch with his safe hands, as did Sahas. We were set 145 for victory.
We needed a solid start, but we faced a set of on the money opening bowlers and we quickly found ourselves 4 wickets down and effectively out of the game. Luke S, in particular, was unfortunately as he fell to a high quality low to the ground catch, the sort of inspired fielding that changes matches. We did our best but with victory out of sight we went about accumulating as many runs as we could and by the end we had reached 88-8. The only batters to enter double figures were Dylan (11) and Issa (15).
M.O.M. Amyas, one for stepping up late to play for us, and more importantly for producing the ball of the day!
