A belated first outing of the season in the B league saw us again fortunate to dodge the rain showers. A full game was played and we all stayed dry (if a bit cold!).

Asked to field by West Herts, we made an encouraging start with Ben and Lucas keeping things tight in the opening overs. It was Eeswar though who made the initial breakthrough and he soon added a second to finish with fine figures of 2-0-10-2. When Dylan J (1-31) produced the ball of the day to get their third wicket, a chaseable target appeared to be on the cards. However, things unravelled when the unfortunate Rohan landed painfully on his ankle whilst bowling mid over, ending his participation in the game. West Herts took full advantage of the disruption within our ranks and climbed into our final bowling overs to end with 157-3.

A tall ask from ball one, and it was only Harry (25*) that got to grips with the opposition attack as he played nicely to make retirement. Nimay reached double figures before he had a smidgen of a brain freeze to be dismissed for 11, however, with regular wickets falling the run rate continued to grow. Thus, it was left to Ben (14*) to show us what he do with the bat, and Luke S (15) who batted for Rohan in his absence to bolster our final total to 104.

Rohan’s injury and the fading light conspired against us, but we can have no complaints about the result.
