Under blue skies we entertained Abbots Langley last Friday evening.

We batted first and as it has been in recent times a bright start was made. Rohan N (24) and Zach (16) laid the foundations at the top of the order with some classy strokeplay, and this was followed by Akein (25* in 22 balls), who looked in excellent touch as he raced to retirement. Adi then somewhat eclipsed this with a number of eye-catching drives, as he also reached retirement (25*), from a mere 16 balls. We looked set for an imposing total until our run rate tailed off a little towards the end. Nimay contributed a useful 10* as we finished on 128-5.

We made a curious start in the field, with some uncharacteristic erratic bowling and ground fielding, which allowed Abbots to make a fast start. However, we did also pick up two early scalps with Rahul (2-10) bowling two quality straight deliveries. Despite them being up with the run rate, the target set was always going to require some strength in depth of the opposition’s batting, and once regular wickets started to fall Radlett took control. The remaining wickets were shared about liberally as we ran out comfortable winners: Akein (1-10), Raoul (1-9), Coby (1-6), Adi (1-11), Zach 1-5) & Rohan N (1-1), with two of their players having retired. Coby in particular bowled his best spell in a Radlett shirt. Catches were taken by Issa (2), Raoul & Adi, none of which could be described as straightforward.

Four wins on the bounce, top stuff from the boys!

M.O.M. It’s Adi this time for his cricketing equivalent of the ‘perfect’ hat trick. Runs, a wicket and a catch. He dominated with the bat and once again bowled with hostile pace.
