Radlett CC Won by 5 wickets

Match report THE GAME THE EMBRYOS BECAME FULLY FLEDGED ADULTS
On a strange weather day we turned up at sunny Cobden Hill to face our good friends from Harpenden. The mood changes as the weather changes and the covers are on and off as the rain starts spitting the comes down heavier and really heavy and then bright sunshine.
The rain holds off and it will be a 1.10 start with 40 overs a side.
Ross has the new cherry at his Lower Ground End and as is his wont starts with a maiden and Koby concedes 1. The pitch is slow and Ross is miserly but Koby cant quite get his rhythm and its no surprise when Roscoe gets Tullett LBW and its 15 for 1 after 7.
Pankhurst who looks a good player has been in a running battle with Koby calling him slow and regrets this as Koby gets him with a beaut and its 15 for 2.
Bradley comes in and takes on Koby so Rosey calls on our Triple Threat and he soon has Stewart caught behind by Tom Fielden and its 28 for 3. Ross continues his miserly spell and with his last ball of his spell has Bradley caught by Tom. Roscoe ends up with 8 overs 4 maidens 10 runs 2 wickets. Its 37-4
Next ball DSJ gets Killen LBW and its 37 for 5, DSJ is in the middle of an unbelievable spell hitting the pitch hard and swinging it and gets rid of the next 3 to bad his first Michelle and finished with amazing figures of 7 overs 1 maiden 9 runs for 5 wickets. Yash and Alex pulled off great catches to help triple threat. A super spell is brought to an end by the Young Bowlers directive.
Ross runs out Platts and Jas snares Downes to another great catch this time from Abhijay and its over 55 all out. I am shocked at the 55 as this pitch although slow is not a 55 all out pitch. Triple threat bowled beautifully and was backed up by some impressive fielding by
Suhaan, Alex, Yash, Rosey and Tom behind the stumps, Ross rolled back the years with his run out and Koby continued to chirp on the boundary.

A sumptuous tea of Tea and Green Pingles courtesy of Michelle from The Pavilion helped and I began to wonder would we win this in 8 overs or by 8 wickets. What followed was brilliant aggressive cricket but played in a great spirit. We know Harpenden always open with Jack Doyle and A N Other, The A Nother was Will Downes and his first ball was to Alex who was dropped at Mid On. Alex then gets a single and Abhijays first ball was his last as he lashes the ball back at Downes and he holds onto a blinder. 1 for 1.
Jack Doyle has the ball and Alex is dropped by the keeper so he is 1 run 2 let offs and then Yash gets a single an Alex is LBW. 3 for 2 not the start I envisioned. Yash is joined by Yash look a like Suhaan and these 2 (our gun fielders) BUT regrettably Suhaan is undone by Doyle and we are4 for 3. The bright red helmet of Freddie Wright strides to the crease and plays a good hand by using his long legs to stride down and stop any spin from Doyle. Yash is then equal to Jac and plays 2 sumptuous shots until Freddie is LBW to Downes bowling left arm over (MMMM) Yash then succumbs next over bowled by Jack Doyle. Its 23 for 5 ans thers are squeaky bums all over the place.
Enter the place enter the Dragon as Geoffrey Jas Singh joins Tom Fielden and the play sensible cricket and Jas goes aggressive and Tom nurdled sensibly and Geoffrey hits 4s when he wants to break the shackles of some good bowling
Jas wins it in the 19th over with 4,6,4 and we have won by 5 wickets in a pulsating very low scoring game played in good spirit despite one or two silly comments.
A very hard fought win against good opposition leaves us in 5th place 16 points behind 2nd place and next weeks opponents Abbots Langley.
Do we want promotion. Its always hard as a 2nd team but I think we could do it.

Champagne moment Ross rolling back the years with a fantastic run out
