Match report
THE GAME OF THE ANDERTON AND THE MISSINGH GEOFFREY and the embryos return.
On a beautiful late morning the players are warming up and once again Radlett are only 10. It appears Geoffrey is working late. Our near neighbours from Watford win the toss and decide to have a bat and Ross will take the new ball from his customary Lower Ground End. Shock horror he opens with a maiden and the returning Triple threat Daniel Steven-Jennings matches him. It was then that opening bat Dave Anderson played some outstanding shots and was lethal against anything short or off target.
When Roscoe came off after 6 overs he had unusually not taken a wicket and been hit for 36. Troy brough himself on and gets 2 in 2 including an absolute snorter that clipped the top of off stump. Meanwhile Anderson (a South African) was playing a lone hand as he reached 50 in 59 balls and 100 in 123 balls. Michael Lee and Troy bowled beautifully and kept scoring down.
Jasdeep (Geoffrey) Singh was introduced having served his fine for being late and bowled his inimitable style and towards the end of the innings DZJ snared Henderson and the innings closed at 233 for 8 in 50 overs.
Our fielding was not as good as normal and we put down at least 7 catches. 233 looks slightly under par but is going to be hard to score.
What also didnt help us today is that we gave away 22 wides.
Half time and a phenomenal tea was enjoyed by all and out of the pavilion stepped Alex and Tom Smith.
What happened next is something we haven’t seen for a while. Watford skipper Rameez Dar was sensational and by over 7 had figures of 4 for 11 but we were scoring at 6 an over from the other end. 33 for 4 was something of a disaster but disasters call for heroes and enter Abhijay who together with Jasdeep produced a 100 run counter attack with Abhijay reaching 50 in 36 balls with some outrageous shots and Geoffrey being slightly slower as her get 50 in 49 balls. The Watford fielding also showed signs of toredness as they dropped catches and let shots through during the amaSINGH attack on them . The partnership ended in farcical circumstances when both batsmen found each other staring at the other midway down the pitch. Abhijay run out for a sensational 66 in 63 balls and 77 The game has been turned on its head in 75 minutes by Abhijay and Geoffrey with a partnership of 113 of some of the most amazing outsuanding attacking cricket seen for a while.
Geoffrey went soon after and Troy and Michael Lee see it through to nearly the end and its left for Troy and Ross to see it through although not before the most amazing piece of sportsmanship seen for aa long time. Captain Dar thinks he has got Troy caught behind but bas Troy is turning to walk Dave Anderson tells Troy the ball did not carry.
We win on the last ball of the 48th over as Troy smashes Rajoirkar to the cover boundary.
30 very hard fought points but the biggest fight is trying to get the result onto the website.
