Match report THE GAME OF THE LET’S PUT LAST WEEK BEHIND US
Matt Rose’s travelling embryos and others went to our good friends in Letchworth with Indian Weddings, Triple Threat visits to far flung places.
Letchworth are a lovely club with a great set of lads and they have a lovely set up. When Rohan rocked up they all shivered after his 6 for 5 against them in June.
Matt won the toss and decided to field in the balmy heat and as is normal Koby and Ross got early wickets to leave Letchworth at 7 for 2 and 28 for 3. This brought Skipper David Albon and Sarb Chahal together and they were repairing the damage after The Wiz went for 25 runs in his first two overs at the Houses end.
Chahal who played very well at Cobden Hill played better here and is a beautiful stroke maker and it seemed as though he and Albon would get a big score but in a twist of fate Albon smashed Abhijay for 4 and pulled an old intercostal injury and a few balls later was well caught and bowled by Troy. Macauley Denman joined Sarb and continued to hit the bad balls and ran very well until after a 50 partnership The Wiz bowling at the Astro end got through Sarb Chahal defence and bowled him for a fantastic 80
Once Denman perished caught by Jonny in front of the stumps, it went that high it was left to Kilby to marshal the innings through to the 50 overs.

Again we were excellent in the field led by Yash and Abhijay took 2 catches one of them outstanding.
A lovely tea on the lawn was taken and Matt and Alex strolled to the wicket in front of the watching 100s sitting in front of the marquee. The strollers having taken a day off
Alex was brutal on anything short and Matt cultured as they set about the bowling as they raced to 50 in 7.2 overs and Alex was on 44 when he was out with the score on 82.
Will and Yash supported Matt as they both scored 33. Matt went for a sublime 68 when he played one on and Jonnie and Abhijay finished it off with 15 overs to spare.
Good beers and banter with Letchworth after the game and next week we must continue our winning ways against Kings Langley as Northwood continue to make it a 3 way fight.
What an incredible league this has been.
