Match report
THE GAME OF THE DAY BEFORE THE HEATWAVE AND TEJ WITH THE ARMBAND
We travelled to the fabulous surroundings of Northchurch with a number of 1s and 2s regulars misssing so step up to the plate more embryos. The ground looks fabulous and the pitch is a road
Tej is a rubbish caller and loses the toss and we are invited to bat on a steaming hot day. Abhay opens up with Alex and they start carefully intersperced with some sumptious shots. Abhay looks like he is flowing until he cracks one straght to mid off. Skipper for the day Tej joins Alex and well they treat us to some absolute sumptious cricket. Alex is brutal against anything pitched up whilst Tej was majestic with some glorious Lara esque cover drives, He even hit a six.
90 runs had been put on when Alex tried one hit too many and wa well caught by the sightscreeen.
Tom Smith (not an embryo or the author of crickets laws) joins Tej and plays a very different game by anchoring the innings and nurdling ones and twos, leaving Tej to build the innings and really played sensibly. Tej continued to dominate and it was a major surprise when he fell for a quite superb 84 and we are 202 for 3 in the 35th over.
The scene ws set for Jonny Armitage to make hay and with Tom playing sensible cricket Jonny was brutal against anything off line and hit 4 sixes in his 55 before he was bowled by Patel.. Freddie in his return to Cricket played positively and scored off every ball and Tom having reachee 50 became more expansove and hit a 6 to finish 67 not out and he and Prabs scrambled 14 off the last over.
332 for 5 is a good score anywhere but the feeling was we could have scored 30 more.
Tea was enjoyed and the curry outstanding.
Roscoe and KOby opened up and Ross struck in the first over getting Smart to play on and shortly after got Johnson with a peach. Sweenton joi9ned Liveing who had rooted his anchor.
Sweenton was removed by the Over 60;s centurion Deadly Zeddly with a good running catch by Kobias.
Rhys had no luck but will get one big haul shortly.
Freddie came on and almost immediately got a wicket as Prabs took another good catch.
The fielding was absolutely superb with Rhys leading the way and Alex not far behind. Prabs did well after shelling a chance.
Hobley and Patel played some good shots and it took the returning Koby to remove them both.
The end came quickly for Northchurch but not before a stunning Adam Lythesque one handed leap with the ball behind him to remove Ali Fantham.
A good win by 163 runs with everyone contributing.
This team has a great team spirit and we need to concentrate on each game and get that promotion.
Each player young or experienced has produced moments this year and we need to continue playing as team each week.
MOM Tom Smith for anchoring the innings
TFC Not sure there was one so it has to be ME.
Next week a crunch game against Northwood and Neeru without date the best player in DIv 2B. Come along and watch what promises to be a fabulous game of cricket
