Match report The game of The Rose and the Return of The Average Aged Player

A fabulous day of cricket ahead and not a cloud in the sky as we make our way to Potters Bar. Always good to be at The Walk.
Matts embryo's have done him proud over the last 6 weeks and with the returning players we only had 2 under 16s this week
Matt lost the toss and was asked to Bat and Matt opened with Tej.
Both Matt and Tej were back in the hutch at 27 with some fine bowling from the tall gangly Sembian and the Radlett colt Callum Lloyd. Chris Arul on the back of his ton last week played himself in on a slow tricky pitch with some very slow patched of outfield slowing the ball down.
After Neel departed Yash and Chris played well and ran well together and hit some lusty blows until Chris was out trying to hit the cover off the ball and was caught and bowled. Jas went next ball which left us 123 for 5.
Tom joined Yash and the young whippersnappers ran hard pushed hard swept hard, gave back chat hard and entertained until Yash pushed the ball to mid off set of on a leisurely stroll down the wicket and was run out by a direct hit. Overheard behind me WHY DID MY SON NOT RUN FAST......No answers on a postcard needed!!!!!!
Freddie joined Tom for the last 8 balls and saw us to 185. A respectable score on a very slow surface with the weirdest outfield – Lightning fast in parts deadly slow in others.
A fine tea was eaten and Radlett took to the field knowing that we needed to bowl well.
What followed was again a fabulous team performance.
DSJ opened and got the opener with a jaffa and then the second wicket followed caught behind by Tom and Bar are 16-2. Wickets fell regularly and Matt juggled the bowlers well including having to replace Freddie who could not continue with a bad back, just after taking Dave Breeze’s wicket. 60 for 3 became 99 for 7 as The Wizz and The Burglar bowled superbly and skipper Rose nearly got a wicket first ball.
When Neel took a really good catch to remove Hunter Bar lost their chance of winning the game but a professional display by the lads led to a swift finish with Jas getting Lloyd LBW.
Skipper Rose let the team down Quality Street and the celebrations for the Heroes began.
Shame we couldn’t stay and have a beer. We must make sure we stay and have a drink with the oppo.
