Radlett CC Legacy - Sunday III v Stevenage on Sun 29 Jun 2008 at 1.30 p.m.
Radlett CC Won by 26 runs

Match report Radlett Development 212-9 beat Stevenage 186 all out Sun 29th June.

On another hot day at Cobden Hill Radlett won the toss and opened the batting with the in form Sahil Shah and Hardain Nandhra. They started briskly, scoring at over 5 runs an over and had 70 runs on the board before Sahil fell with the score on 70. Hardain soon followed but that only brought in the classy Luca Guerrini. Shameel managed to just reach a wide ball and was caught keeper, Luca soon followed trying to pull a straight one for 30 but we were still in a healthy position at 136 for 4 in the 23rd over. Our middle order then proceeded to collapse with three ducks and suddenly it looked like we were not going to post a competitive score, with no Daniel Cohen to come in and save the day.
We still had a batsman in Tej Malde but he needed someone to stay with him and with Phil Simmons and Soffair senior left, things were not looking good. Phil had other ideas and proceeded to take on the bowling with some sumptuous strokes. With Tej also scoring they put on 44 runs in 6 overs. Soffair came in, was injured trying to avoid a run out and contributed 0 to a 19 run final partnership, Tej undefeated on 38, and we had a respectable 212/9.
Stevenage replied positively, scoring at over 6 an over and it was only the introduction of Josh MacFarlane and Shameel Ahmed that slowed the scoring. Luca broke his finger as keeper but bravely continued as a fielder, trying to field and throw left handed for ‘the team’. Reece Egerton ably took over behind the stumps and had 2 stumpings.
Shameel snared both of the openers with his tight bowling. Sahil also took 2 wickets at the other end and we were now on top. We thought the match won but Stevenage kept in it with some bold strokes by their young batter Pincott, notably taking on the rapid Simmo. However the run rate kept creeping up and Hardain produced some quality bowling to take 4 wickets, with Tej claiming the final one.
A solid win and with Berg scoring another 150 on the top pitch for the one’s victoty, it was a good afternoon for Radlett cricket.
