Match report It was a beautiful late spring morning in Herts and the u14's made the short journey to OA's for their second game of the season.

Radlett had a strong side out and were expected to win against an always competitive OA's side.

James lost the toss and Radlett were inserted.

Lots of fun on the sidelines, I was trying to get our 11th player over from Radlett, and Kashif was battling with the complete nightmare that is the crichq scoring system. Even worse, there was a massive queue for coffee and Debbie dropped her sausage sandwich....unbelievably, worse was to come!!!

We started well, Louis was manoeuvring the ball around well, and James looked to have his eye in. However having just hit a nice 4, James managed to play all around a straight ball having made 7.
Greg strode purposely to the crease, and he and Louis looked like a good partnership, Greg hit a huge 6, followed up with a sweet 4, but was then caught for 14, playing another big shot. Louis continued to score well, but was also caught for 17.
The less said about our middle the better, Maaz, Ed, Joe and Tom Hicks came and went quickly, which didn’t help Kashif with his on-going battle with criqhq.
However Radlett did find some good runs in the lower order, Chris King top scored with a good looking 19, he did survive once chance, but other than some early comedy running with George he looked well set.
George gave him good support and batted well as the junior partner.
Chris departed in the 19th over having played well for his 19 which included a 6 and a 4.
George was just unable to score well off the final over, and ended 17 not out, but the final total of 96 looked a little under par.

After a short break and some stirring words from your reporter the lads ran out with hope in their hearts.

James struck early, picking up 2 wickets in his first 2 overs, with Maaz keeping it tight at the other end, Radlett looked in good shape. George came on first change and picked up a wicket with his first ball, caught by James and then it all fell apart.
James and Dan took the game by the scruff of its neck and put all the bowlers to the sword, Anything loose was punished and Radlett spent a lot of time chasing leather. James was finally run out but victory was in sight and Dan scored the winning runs with 10 balls to spare. Special mention to Usman, he worked hard a sweeper on the boundary and was never less than accurate in his throwing.

Ultimately we didn’t score enough runs, and while the OA’s batsmen scored well, we didn’t bowl as we can.
