Match report RADLETT WOMEN CONTINUE TO IMPRESS

Having won the toss and elected to bat Radlett found themselves in a sticky situation in their North London League clash at Underhill. Following the dismissals of Anna Harris (0), Sophie Khaihra (2) and Sam Battman (17) the innings total stood at 32-3. However, a 98 run fourth wicket partnership between Katie Pankhurst (68*) and Lorraine Hartley (34) repaired the initial damage and saw Radlett through to a total of 136 for 4 from their 30 overs. Pankhurst's 68, her first half century for the club, came off 77 balls and included 11 fours.

Given the strength of her bowling line-up the total gave Radlett captain, Kanchana Gamage, confidence that they could contain the Underhill reply. That confidence was well placed. The on-form opening spin paring of Sophie Khaihra (4-9) and Anna Harris (1-15) each bowled through their six allotted overs in some style and had the home team in all sorts of trouble at 24 for 5. The wickets included a fantastic reflex slip catch from Gamage.

Gamage then turned to her seam attack to finish the job. Emma Sullivan cleaned up the stumps of Underhill's no's 6 and 8 with the final two balls of her first over, and then trapped their no.9 plum in front with the first ball of her second to record her first club hat-trick. Despite some lower order resistance Amy Price (1-14) and Laura Gurney (1-11) picked up a wicket apiece to complete a 72 run victory for the champions elect.
