Match report THE GAME OF GEE WHIZZ WHERE ARE THE EMBRYOS AND WHY ARE RADLETT 10

On a lovely day we set off for North Herts and the lovely village of Ickleford. We haven’t played Ickleford for a while and it was nice to visit a real village club where the sports centre is the centre of the village.

The day gets off to a weird start as 8 men of Radlett (yes you read it correctly – 8 Men No embryos who were summonsed to play poor schools cricket or were just not available). The 8 becomes 9 as Geoffrey turns up his usual 26 minutes late and watches the others warm up. We know Rob Millard will be late but where is THE WHIZZ....

It seems that he is not aware he has been selected so Radlett 2 are 10.

Ickelford win the toss and bat and Ross has the cherry at the Scoreboard end. 3 balls in its 1 for as Chip finds the edge of Crouch’s bat and Matt takes a good catch. With no Koby thanks to Noah being injured and the Whizz not around Geoffrey opens up with Roscoe. Over 3 and Guile is castled by Fishy. 3 for 2 becomes 6 for 3 when Chippy gets one of the Ickleford embryos caught by Tej. Its soon 20 for 4 in the 11th over when Carps has Hilliard LBW with a slightly harsh LBW.

Brown and Giggle get a small partnership together when Troy gets in on the act bowling Brown at 36 for 5 which becomes 37 for 6 when Jas having warmed up bowls the younger embryo Pareath. Giggle is playing a lone hand but skipper Marsden helps until he is snared behind by Matt from Troy. This makes it 54 for 7 and its 55 for 8 when the same combination snare Giggle after a fighting 21.

Sam Draper enters and plays some lovely shots and Matt and T Baz swap the gloves and Rahil is introduced to the attack and helps Ickleford with a couple of loose balls whilst he warms up but cleans up the tail with 2 good catches by ALex and Neel.

93 all out in 33.4 overs

A sumptious tea is had by all and Matt allows Alex and Tom (Taffy) Smith to open. Alex looks like he wants to home by 4 to study when he is castled for 5 and Tej gets out in unTej like manner and its 37 for 2 as Tom has been hitting some lovely shots. Neel replaces brrother Tej but soon rejoins him in the pavilion. 45 for 3 and Ickleford sense a comeback.

Tom and Jas play sensibly and aggressively as they take the score to 66 when Tom decides Welsh beer faces better than English and holes out for a very good 36.

Rob Millard and Jas up the anti and it is left to Rob to smash the winning runs at 97 for 4 in 19 overs.

A good win against a lovely bunch of lads at a lovely place to play cricket.

The Matthew Rose Man of the Match award has been awarded this week not to Matt Rose but to: Ross, Roscoe, Chip, Chippy, Carps, Fish, Fishy Carpenter

TFC Award The Whizz obviously (hopefully he will learn to call next week)

Champagne Moment Tom hitting a huge 6 and holding his pose

Robs face when he deservedly hit the winning runs.

Lets keep this momentum going next week.
