Bushey v Radlett CC 2nd XI on Sat 29 Jun 2019 at 13.00
Radlett CC Lost by 2 wickets

Stupid title I know but sitting in the scorebox feeling hot and sweaty was nothing to what the players must have felt on a pitch and playing area, with a heat haze, heat visibly rising from the pitch and the at one stage Troy held my phone in the middle and it said 34 degrees. No wonder drinks breaks were allowed as and when. All I can say is that I am glad we were not playing in France where it was 10degree hotter.

Details of the game
Tej won the toss and rather than risk the wrath of his team decided to bat on a steaming hot day. He and Archit opened up and slowly, very very very slowly built the score until we were 34 in the 13th over. Tej then pulled Khan to Captain Asif who held on to the chance. Duncan given the chance to b at without worrying about keeping but decided he would smash the ball back to a fielder, Neel followed soon after and 34 for 0 became 45 for 3. Fakir and Archit batted sensibly untilFaks fell on 73 and Archit went at 80.

Young Ben Moffatt then held the innings together and battled to a very good 29 aided by Ross and Geofrey. We ended on 143 about 25/30 short of a par score on the pitch.

Tea was taken and boy oh boy what a tea. A veggie delight of Pakoras, Curry, Nans, Japati, RIce Pudding and other delights meant the mountain of sandwiches were left all untouched. Ross, ROssy, ROscoe, Chippy, Chip, Fish Fishie commented that nit was a ploy to weigh us down with the best tea south of the Wash.

The team worked their way through the haze and the steaming pitch and Ross and Fakir opened up and were soon licking their wounds as after 4 overs Bushey had rattled the scoreboard to . 50 came up in the 8th over and we were staring down the barrel of a battering. Enter Archit and he and Mickey "play one miss one" Lee turned the screw the other way with tight bowling good fielding good catching and having Ross in the right position. 70 without loss became 107 for 4 and after another bushey blast became 129 for 7. The miracle of Eastcote ROad was on.
However Bushey managed to see it through in the 41st over.

A tight game which we could have won. Bushey applied themselves better to win.
