Falkland v Radlett CC 1st XI on Sat 28 Jun 2008 at 11.00 a.m.
Radlett CC Won by 160 runs

Match report A breathtaking 159 from Middlesex all rounder Gareth Berg and 5-44 from team mate Kabir Toor was to much for Falkland to handle.

Radlett lost the toss and were asked to bat first, skipper Burger said "If i had won the toss i would have wanted to bat first anyway, the pitch looked like it would spin later in the day and we wanted to post a good score and put them under pressure." The innings got off to a bad start once again with both openers Lewis and Toor losing their wickets cheaply and Radlett found themselves at 10 for 2. In walked skipper Burger who joined Lowe at the crease and together the two of them added 71 runs for the 3rd wicket before Burger was caught in the slips for a well played 41. Berg walked to the wicket and from word go he looked in control and a man who was determined to score runs, his shot selection and elegance in stroke was a sign a what a class act he really is. Lowe lost his wicket shortly after reaching a well played 50 when he flashed at a wide ball and was caught by the wicket keeper. Felix Walker joined berg and what was to follow was a radlett 5th wicket partnership record of 153 runs that could have taken as many balls to score. The two batsman hit the ball to all parts of the ground and were in full control and hungry for more runs. It ended when Walker was stumped trying to move the score on even quicker for a magnificent 52. Berg continued playing breath taking shots which also included reverse sweeps of the highest quality, he was joined by vice captain Jenkins, who played the perfect support role by getting Berg on strike every other ball. Berg was eventually dismissed in the penultimate over when he skied one to deep square leg and finished on 159, a club record in the Home Counties and a personal best. Radlett finished the innings declaring after 65 over's on 332 for 6.

Radlett knew they would have 55 over's to claim 25 points and it all got off to a good start when Rob Watson struck twice in his first over to have Falkland struggling at 9 for 2. It was however a day where spin was going to dominate and Burger introduced spin very early and it paid dividends with Paul Barker striking early and Kabir Toor claiming a wicket with the very first ball that he bowled. Atul Sachdeva was introduced into the attack and it was leg spin from both ends. It looked like they could take a wicket with almost every delivery that was bowled and it took Radlett 45 over's to bowl Falkland out for 172. The chief destroyer being Toor with 5 for 44 to ensure Radlett 25 well deserved points and back into 4th position on the League Table.

Gareth Berg said after the game "It was just one of those days where everything hits the middle of the bat and all your shots that you choose to play come off. I enjoyed batting with Felix and together the two of us broke a club record which is always a nice achievement. The guys all bowled well and it was great to have gone away from home and claim 25 points."
