Radlett CC U13A v Hitchin on Fri 06 Jun 2014 at 6.00pm
Radlett CC Won by 100 runs

Match report MATCH REPORT:
Playing on the excellent wicket at Edge Grove on a summers evening, having lost the toss, unexpectedly HitchinCC chose to field.
Immediately Radlett's openers Abhay Hirani (30 retired no) and Josh De Caires (30 retired no) set about Hitchin's bowlers to move the total onto 75-0 after 10 overs. After the loss of a couple of wickets Ritik Parmar (16no), Chris King (8) and Thomas Hicks(10) batted confidently to end the innings on an impressive 147-7 after 20 overs which included 35 extra's. Hitchin's opening batsmen started well moving the total on slowly until a brilliant flighted ball from Rahil Thapar had Hitchin's county batsmen Connor Dudley (7) edging the ball for a brilliant catch by wicket keeper Abhay Hirani. Some resistance was provided by Hitchin's other opener Reintjes (22) before being bowled by Rahil Thapar. The last six wickets fell for the addition of 13 runs for Hitchin to end their innings on 47 all out after 13.1 overs. Best bowling was Rahil Thapar 4-1-5-6 and Christopher King 2-0-4-2.

There were some excellent performances with the bat, from Abhay Hirani , Josh De Caires and Ritik Parmar and with the ball, from Christopher King but the player of the match (and probably the performance of the season) was Rahil Thapar's leg spin bowling with figures of 4-1-5-6 which included a 'Four in Four' or a 'Double Hat-trick'. It is notable that such a feat has only been achieved in international cricket once before by Lasith Malinga in the 2007 World Cup.

What a remarkable performance after the debacle of the previous evening. What was most impressive was the way you all worked and played as a team and the encouragement you gave each other. There was some outstanding play from all areas of the team. The openers dictated from the second ball with some powerful batting and valuable runs were added by the lower order batsmen to reach our highest ever total of 147. There was some very brave fielding, well taken catches, stumpings and run outs. All the team excelled in reducing the opposition to 47 all out to record our highest ever victory margin of 100 runs. It was also an absolute pleasure to witness such a brilliant spell of leg spin bowling from Rahil Thapar. Well done Rahil.
