Preston v Radlett CC Legacy - Sunday III on Sun 05 Aug 2012 at 13.00
Radlett CC Won by 7 wickets

Match report An extremely comprehensive victory for a strong Sunday 3rd XI side.

Captain Cohen called heads and won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first, despite still awaiting the arrival of the Charles brothers as Ben had yet again got lost! He now joins Vishal and Ross in the 'banned drivers' group!

Taking the field with all 11, Chippy opened the bowling and with the second ball of the match, squared Hearne up who nicked off to Bhavin at gully.
Hemal Malde, with the worst fake injury ever, came up the hill into the wind, despite choosing ends!

Ross and Hemal both took early wickets with Ross starting his spell with 2 wicket maidens and a maiden! He was bowling serious seeds!

Heal was brought off after 7 overs (7-1-19-2) and replaced by cousin Neel, the 2015 1st XI opening bowler, who tried his very best to bowl the opposition to a decent score, helped by Sim Cohen dropping a catch!

Ross finished his excellent spell of 10 overs, 4 maidens, 5 for 15, although he did bottle a hat-trick opportunity! Sim Cohen replaced Neel Malde, who swapped ends following Ross' spell.

Sim bowled really nicely, picking up 3 wickets, including stopping Josh Charles from having a bowl! Poor team play from Sim!

Tea was ready and was eaten before RCC went out to bat.

Last week's centurion Tej Malde had decided to try and win the game in 3 overs but failed dismally and ran straight past the third ball of the innings! This brought captain Cohen to the crease. He typically blocked out his first few deliveries, before stealing the strike on the last ball of the over.

Preston's choice of opening bowlers (left arm non-spin and leg-spin pies) left something to be desired, with the leg-spinner being smashed for two 4s by Cohen in his first over. Cohen slogged his way to a fairly ugly 16 before mis-timing one to mid-wicket, who took a decent catch.

Will Wright, a late replacement following Matt Elworthy pulling out with a broken toe-nail, went in at 4 and batted really nicely for his 13, although his choice of shot to the regular long hops was slightly odd!

Bhavin Kakkad, who was applauded and cheered for every run he did and didn't score, tried to launch the ball miles but missed and was cleaned-up. What followed was the single most ridiculous celebration ever witnessed, especially with Radlett only needing 8 to win!

Ben Charles walked out to bat, using Shane's old bat that had been left by Regan, smashed his first ball to the cover boundary and his second to the square-leg boundary winning the game.

All in all, an extremely successful day for us.

Thanks very much to Alan Armitage for umpiring and Ketan Malde for scoring (even though he turned up without a pen!)

MOM: Pretty easy really. Ross Carpenter for that excellent spell of fast bowling!
TFC: Also very easy! Goes to Josh Charles who neither bowled nor batted but was scheduled to come on next over!

As far as I know, we are top. Two games next Sunday!
