Northwood v Radlett CC 1st XI on Sun 28 Jul 2002 at 1:00
Radlett CC Won 74 runs

Match report Sunday saw Radlett progress to the semi finals of the Becker Transport cup following a comfortable victory over Northwood. Having won the toss skipper Houghton elected to bat on a stiflingly hot day, however the Cobden Hill side were soon in trouble as Matt Evans & Kaf Jahangir departed with the team score still in single figures. Nick Hampton (68) & Jon Freedman (75) did an excellent rebuilding job to see the score past the 150 mark and following a quick fire half century from Kervin Marc, Radlett eased passed the 300 mark for the second time in the competition.

With such a daunting target to attain Northwood set off at a brisk rate, however the Radlett bowlers never looked like allowing the home side to score the required runs. When Pritchard became Dave Houghton’s 5th wicket of the innings, Northwood were forced to give up the fight as they closed on 230.

Radlett will entertain North Mymms in the semi final of the cup, a match that will give the Cobden Hill side a chance of revenge following the classic Evening Standard cup match of 1998 which Mymms narrowly won in a game of more than 650 runs.
