Radlett CC News story

John and Evelyn Seaton

19 Jan 2023

Dear Member,

Last weekend, I received the following email from the President and Chairman of Long Marston CC, Paul Dumpleton. with the very sad news of  the deaths of John and Evelyn Seaton, our caterers for many years.

"Tony,

Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news regarding John. He passed away on Sunday 8th January in Stoke Mandeville hospital aged 87 yrs. Evelyn passed on 20th June last year and was buried at Drayton Beauchamp Church, near their home, on the hottest day of the year.

John’s funeral will be held at Aylesbury Vale Crematorium, Watermead, Aylesbury HP19 0FU at 1.30pm on Thursday 23rd February followed by a gathering at Long Marston Cricket Club.

As mentioned, we are in a very sorry state of affairs with John, who passed in debt with no money and family issues over paying for the funeral. A local fund raising initiative at his regular pub and our cricket club is aiming to find sufficient to get everything done as we think he would have wanted.

Kind Regards

Paul Dumpleton – Chairman and President LMCC

We made John and Evelyn Vice Presidents a while ago, after their service to Radlett and Middlesex over many years as our events caterers, travelling down to us from their home near Aylesbury and became good friends of many of us at Radlett. The news of the circumstances as described above by Paul is awful, and Long Marston CC and local friends are trying to help out.

Paul called me, knowing the relationship John and Evelyn had with us, and thought that we might like to help in some way with a contribution towards the initiative they have started.

What I suggest is that if you would like to make a contribution, you make a donation to our Radlett Cricket Club HSBC Account sort code 40-40-01 A/C No 32535661 with a reference of John Seaton donation and we will add the CASC uplift and pass on to the fund as a Radlett CC donation.

We owe John and Evelyn a great deal for the times they looked after us and remember the good times we enjoyed with them.

Many thanks.

Tony.
