I have today received the sad news from his daughter Elizabeth that Bill Marshall died last week in the evening on 1st of April. As you may know, he has been suffering for a few years now with Multiple System Atrophy and died peacefully at home with his family present.
Bill and his wife Anne, who sadly died last year, were long time members of our club, and both played their part in the daily life at Radlett. Bill played as a bowler in the 1st and 2nd XI's in his early days, and after playing took on several roles including Fixture Secretary, a member of the Cricket Committee as Team Manager, a spell of umpiring, and finally followed by a long spell as a scorer for at least two of the XI's. He was a Vice President and was rightly made a Life Member in 1997 for his long service with the club. A really lovely man who was positive about everything.
As we are all subject to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the three attachments are from Elizabeth which we hope you are able to read and/or download.
The first is from Elizabeth and her brother about their Dad, the second is the Order of Service for the funeral next Tuesday 14th April at 9.30am, and the third is the set of instructions for those of you who would like to join the on-line webcast of the Service. Elizabeth has asked that those who cannot join on-line might like instead to light a candle in memory of Bill.
We pass on our sincere condolences to Elizabeth and family for their loss of our dear friend Bill.
