The Covid-19 issue and club news

16 Mar 2020

To all members.

I thought that a brief note to all is appropriate at the moment, and is just to let you know what is currently happening at the club, as we wait for news from the relevant authorities on the Covid-19 issue. This is a fast-moving situation and it is clear that changes are on the way, but we will carry on with getting the club ready for the season and take appropriate action when advised to do so.

Two pieces of good news.

On a positive note, we are very pleased to announce that we have an additional Principal Sponsor. OakNorth Bank PLC, based in Central London, will support us for the next three years, and had planned to meet with interested members in April to introduce themselves, but for obvious reasons, that is on hold. In the meantime, a short article giving introductory information about their business aims will be available on the website and other media platforms.

At last, we have started to replace the cricket nets on the main ground in the last few days, thanks to a extremely generous donation. They should be available for the start of the season, and the old net on the lower ground will also be renewed, but slightly later in the season, depending on completion of other work on the second ground associated with the telecoms mast installation.

A very full cricket programme has been put in place for junior and senior cricketers, but there is no point in speculating on when we will be able to start playing or even use the club in numbers. Social events are in plan but on hold for now, so we will make sure by all media options that you are kept up to date on the next move.

We look forward to seeing you all at the club as soon as we get “the all clear” and life returns to normal.

Stay safe.
