Chipperfield Clarendon v Radlett CC Sunday III on Sun 21 Jun 2009 at 1.30 p.m.
Radlett CC Won by 19 runs

Match report Radlett Chess Valley 2s 247/7 beat Chipperfield 128/6 by 19 runs

Radlett lost the toss and were inserted at this picturesque Chipperfield ground.
Radlett won their second Chess valley match due some good performances when it mattered. It was good to have back some of the older youngsters, Kailash, Luca, Bhavin and Kieran - who all contributed to this victory.
Chipperfield won the toss and inserted Radlett. Reece Egerton (25) is improving with every game and put on an 83 run partnership with Neel Malde in 20 overs. So we had a good start. Neel reached a good 50 but was bowled a couple of overs later. The openers had done their job. Our middle order then went for quick runs, but failed in being too aggressive and we were 145/6after 34 overs and in danger of not seeing through the allotted 45 overs. Fortunately we had a long batting line up and Tej Malde, our form batter was still there, with Bhavin and Josh to follow. Tej and Bhavin Kakkad set about, not only keeping their wickets, but scoring at a good rate. Tej particularly ran well. He reached a rapid 72, Bhavin 35. 60 runs scored in the last 5 overs saw us reach 147/7.
This total was reachable, but two quick wickets with the score on 13 by Tome Blazevski put us on top early on, one a good catch by Luca. The opening bowlers, Yasir Sayed and Tome both swung the ball and Yasir’s pace was particularly impressive. Chipperfield did recover and put on a 66 run 3rd wicket stand at over 4 an over to keep them in touch, Reece taking a catch off Kieran,s bowling. Chipperfield then scored well, Neel Malde bowled well only going for 36 runs in his 10 overs, but the batters stayed up with the rate. With 6 overs left, Chipperfield needed to score at 8 runs an over with 6 wickets left, something they had been doing for the previous 10 overs. The opener, youngster Freddie Hampson, had been badly dropped by Yasir when on 50 odd and he had proceeded to reach an excellent century.
Matt Soffair was marshalling his bowlers intelligently though, and had saved Yasir for his final 3 overs. The newer batters could not lay bat on ball in those 3 overs, his pace and swing once again decisive and he certainly made up for the dropped catch. Luca had the opener caught in the penultimate over by Matt and we went on to win by 19 runs.
Special mention must be made for some of the fielding, Luca, Kailash, Matt and Reece were really sharp in the field with Josh Charles lively behind the stumps.
Thanks to Piero for umpiring.
So another win for the Chess valley 2s. Well done.
