Potters Bar v Radlett CC Sunday III on Sun 24 May 2009 at 1.30 p.m.
Radlett CC Lost by 6 runs

Match report Sunday May 24th Potters Bar Development 226-4 beat Radlett 220-6 by 6 runs.

Well done to the Radlett team for fighting to the end and only narrowly losing to a strong Potters bar team. We only had 10 players so Paul Barker stepped in for the first 20 overs to captain a fairly young side. Radlett had a great start with Tome Blazevski bowling the opener for a duck. We kept the scoring to about 4 an over for the first 20 overs with Rikin and Tome bowling well ably backed up by Lee Greenland and Joe Lewis who controlled things well. P.B lost their second wicket in the 16th over with the score on 70 and Their no 4 soon followed for a duck. In this middle section the scoring rate was kept in check but the loss of the 4th wicket brought in Titmus who, with opener Taylor scored a 100 run partnership in the last 9 overs reaching a large total of 226-4. Olli Jackson brought himself and Lee on to control the onslaught. And both did well to keep Potters Bar to a gettable total. Josh Charles yet again looked very sharp behind the stumps standing up to most of the bowling. On his debut Joe Lewis bowled well only conceding 11 runs in his 4 overs.
Marcus Freeman and Tej Malde opened for Radlett and had a 50 run opening partnership in 10 overs before Marcus was bowled. They had survived 3 dropped catches, Rikin Shah came in and rapidly scored and he and Tej ran well together, keeping the scoring rate at over 5 an over. The introduction of a spinner did slow things down a bit and Tej was out for a quality 39. Rikin kept the scoring rate just about Ok while Ollie Jackson played himself in for a few overs, and the Ollie also started scoring more rapidly so that we were still in striking distance with 10 overs to go, needing to score at 7 runs an over.
Then Rikin was run out for 78 going for a tight second run, sacrificing himself for the team. Ollie played on a couple of balls later for 36.
So Josh Charles tried to guide us to victory. Rhys Jenkins looked good again before being run out for 8 and Lee Greenland hit some lusty blows, but we finished just 6 runs short.
A good match with a close finish on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Many thanks to Piero Guerrini and Ketan Malde for umpiring. And to Dhiresh Shah for scoring. And Ollie Jackson for captaining.
We are away to Sawbridgeworth next Sunday.
