Match report With a few of the 4th team stalwarts missing, it was a very new team that travelled to Preston for the first game of the season. Radlett batted first and started well with Shabs and Mike D opening, Mike ending up batting very sensibly for 2.5 hours and still managing to look sprightly in the field! After a few quick wickets, it was down to Meeps to bring the score up, which he did in fine form, frustrating the bowlers especially when he hit 3 4s in one over! Lee Greenland batted very well in his debut 4th team match, in the face of some excellent bowling from Preston. However, radlett only managed (appropriately) 125 runs. We bowled well, with Meeps getting 3, however, it was not quite well enough and Preston knocked off the runs 7 down in 40.5 overs. The high point of the match was a brilliant catch from one D Cohen, who caught out possibly the unluckiest batsman in Hertfordshire! A good game, Preston even looked worried for a while, however, too few runs on the board meant a loss for the 4's first game. However, they can take some promising individual performances (especially from the youngsters) into next week's game, where I look forward to some more sunshine and lots more runs!
