Oxford v Radlett CC 1st XI on Sat 20 Jun 2009 at 11.00 a.m.
Radlett CC Won By 5 wkts

Match report Radlett produced probably their best performance of the season to claim a memorable 25 points away to Oxford.

Overcast conditions and a green tinge to the wicket meant that the toss would be crucial. Burger dealt the first blow calling correctly and invited the home side to get their pads on.

The cricket was cautious for the first half hour as both sides tried to examine the conditions but it was Radlett who struck first when Heath Paynter remove the captain Harrison well caught by Leo Sandino-Taylor at slip.

The captain then produce two 'jaffnasties' to remove Laudat and Sandbach in the same over and from here on in Radlett dominated proceedings expertly working their way through the home side's batsmen.

Burger rotated his bowlers with great thought, using short spells at one end, to supplement Paynter's mammoth 16 over spell, ensuring that Radlett kept well on top.

All the bowlers contributed to Oxford's downfall but it was Burger with 'five for' who best used the conditions to his advantage with three superb spells of pace bowling. Paynter (2), Kabir Toor (2) and Sandino-Taylor (1) were the other successful bowlers with Paul Barker's misery spell unluckily ending wicketless.

Oxford ended up 146 all out and Radlett were confident of victory despite the quality of Oxford's seam attack which included three players with recent County Championship experience.

That confidence was not misplaced as Sandino-Taylor drove the first ball of the reply from ex-Warwickshire paceman Hole down the ground for four to get the chase up and running. The second ball received the same treatment this time through mid-on. This set the tone for Sandino-Taylor's innings as he and Toor destroyed Oxford's hopes with an opening stand of 109 in 20 overs.

The former High Wycombe and Bromley opener produced a set of powerful straight drives that took the game completely away from 2007 Champions Oxford before he was eventually dismissed for 79 from 72 balls. Oxford then began to show why they are one of the strongest teams in the league when Fakir Dungaria went first ball and Tom Jenkins also recorded a duck to give the wily spinner Rupert Evans three wickets in a over.

Felix Walker and Toor then combined to add 12 before Walker was bowled by Evans as he looked to hit over the top and despite Toor falling to a run out during a mix up with the captain Radlett were never in any real danger. Burger finished the game with a glorious straight drive for four and 25 points were in the bag.

Next week Radlett travel to Potters Bar hoping to continue their unbeaten run against the newly promoted Herts club.
