Match report I had two alternative ways of starting this report;

1) Radlett emerge triumphant in last ball thriller.
2)If the hallmark of a good team is to win without playing well then the Under 9 boys are certainly a fine side.

Radlett lost the toss and were put in. Will Wright and James Lawrence both scored 11 in a positive opening partnership of 24. The initiative was then handed back to Harpenden in 8 overs where the batting lacked conviction and the running harked back to the dark days of Tring away.4 wickets were lost in ways calculated to have the coach scrambling in his bag for the drawing board.Angus Gillams and Freddie Woodhouse then came in to push the score to respectability, scoring 15 and 6 respectively.
It has to be said that contrary to their billing as the worst side in the league, Harpenden bowled very well conceding the least number of extras of any team we have faced.In all we scored 247-4 net.
Harpenden struggled to make headway against accurate Radlett bowling and played quite defensively looking to avoid losing wickets. Radlett had to work for the wickets and James and Will claimed victims bowled with pacy full length deliveries;Freddie Flanagan claimed his victim with a good James Lawrence catch. As Harpenden edged towards the total they were stifled by very tight spells from Will(3-2-4-1) and James (3-0-7-1).With only 15 to win off 4 overs the odds were in the visitors favour but Will struck middle stump in the 13th over to tip the odds Radlett's way and despite some brave hitting Freddie Woodhouse kept his nerve in the last over, following a 4 off the first ball with 4 dot balls and one no ball. Harpenden finished on 245-3 net.
