Radlett CC Won 30 runs net

Match report Radlett U 9's recorded their second successive win with a convincing
performance away at Shenley. Put into bat by Shenley, Radlett got off to a
cracking start with James Lawrence and William Wright putting on 29 unbeaten
runs. James was the dominant partner thumping 14 runs. Joe Lewis and Khalil
then batted calmly to add 17 with Joe striking a beautiful square drive for
4. Khalil's calling and running was of the highest order. Harry Copley and
Fergus Browne added a further 17 before Angus Gillams and Freddie Woodehouse
rounded off the innings with 19. Only 1 wicket was lost, an amazing
performance at under 9 level as Radlett made 282, or 274 net.Even more
gratifying was the quality of the running between the wickets which was
unrecognisable from the chaos of Tring.Apologies to the spectators who were
expecting some low farce and instead witnessed a professionalism which
Nasser Husaaian could have taken lessons from.
Shenley never looked like getting close to Radlett's imposing score and
mustered 268 for the loss of 3 wickets, a net score of 244.Joe Lewis took 2
wickets and looked lively in his first match. If I was going to be hyper
critical I would say that our bowling was a little more loose and less
penetrative than at Tring, albeit against better opponents. Shenley only
scored 22 off the bat but we gifted them too many extras.
That is a minor quibble however.The boys are playing good cricket have
quickly gelled as a unit.The next game against Old Owens will be a tough one
though and the boys will need all their powers of concentration.
Finally, the Club can supply Radlett CC cricket shirts for U 9 boys( price
yet to be fixed but probably £10-15) irrespective of whether they are in
the team at present.I will be making a note of who would be interested in
purchasing a Club shirt on Sunday.Please let me know if you are interested.
