Match report The Under 9 boys started their season with a win after two cancellations.
Radlett won the toss and elected to bowl.Well captained by James Lawrence
who set the tone by fielding magnificently,Tring Park were able to score 264
but lost 7 wickets which dragged their net score down to 208.All the bowlers
did well with James Lawrence, Khalil Osman Harry Copley and William Wright
taking wickets. There were 3 run outs with one a spectacular pick up and
throw from the captain which would have graced any senior match.
Batting was a bit more difficult, in part due to some wayward bowling which
was hard to hit and in part self inflicted due to some running reminiscent
of Fred Karno's circus. Only 4 wickets were lost as Radlett aquired 272, a
net score of 240. More runs could have been scored but Angus Gillams and
Freddie Woodhouse closed the game down in the last 4 overs and ensured no
further wickets were lost.Amazingly, Angus din't trade exclusively in boundaries and even scored a couple of singles.
Overall this was a very good first performance but the running will need
remedial work on Sunday!
