Radlett CC U15B v Langleybury on Thu 17 Jun 2004 at 6:00
Radlett CC Won 5 wickets
Match report
Jake Jones & Ragu Subramanian put on an awsome batting display to blow away a strong Langleybury team. Whilst England were beating Switzerland 3-0, there was even greater entertainment at Cobden Hill when new boy Ragu & a new version of Jake destroyed a strong bowling & fielding attack.
Unavailability meant we started with only 10 men for 45 minutes. For some the football took precedence.Moprgan Stanley captained the side well & kept us positive throughout . Jake Jones stepped in again to wicket keep. Baiju once again opened the bowling well & bowled out his 4 overs. Janak Shah was a bit more eratic at the other end, bowling too short, but did get a plum LBW decision when he pitched it up. A run out saw us take 2 early wickets. Langleybury were then on top with Pearce &Vinoth scoring 31 & 32 respectively. There ere a couple of missed chances but the ground fielding was better than the A team the previous evening. Alex Walton showed a strong arm & Shaz gitay was willing & chased well. Marshall cant made a brilliant stop half way but had to go off with a swollen wrist, fortunately no break. Matt Soffair arrived as 11th man soon after & Kailash Morjaria was substitute fielder.Morgan Stanley bowled well with 4 overs for 17 runs, Ragu & Matt Roy each took a wicket.. Niki Veale bowled tidily as usual. Morgan Stanley took a stunning brave catch to dismiss Pearce.
!24 runs seemed a large total in windy & cloudy conditions, bit Jake opened the batting as if he had to get home early for dinner, striking the ball as hard as anyone all season. The opening partnership of 68 in 6 overs effectively won the match for us. He was dismissed for 33, & Shaz Gitay soon followed , run out on a second run responding to a call from the boundary!
Although Stanley & Roy went cheaply too Matt Soffair kept his head with Ragu, whowas unluckily run out for 26.
Baiju Ganatra & Soffair saw us to victory in the 16th over.
A memorable win for the B team.
