Match report Sheri Jahangir claimed his best league bowling figures for Radlett with his seven for 50, which set up a comfortable five-wicket win over promotion rivals on a lovely hot day.

Radlett jumped into third place with this victory, an important one as all the main pursuers behind leaders Northwood managed to win -- except Abbots Langley.

Matt Bell managed to assemble the fourth team’s most powerful side of the summer. It so happened that their opponents were weaker than usual, having lost half their strength to a wedding-depleted first team, but such availability problems affect every club during a campaign, including Radlett.

Jahangir’s left-arm seamers were very effective. Each time Bell wanted to rest him, a wicket fell or the wily bowler talked his way on. Eventually Jahangir bowled almost right through for 20 overs.

Four victims were bowled, two lbw, and Bell held a waist high slip chance as the sole catcher, having taken Jahangir at his word a couple of minutes earlier when he said at the drinks interval: ``Give me one more over, skipper, because I haven’t bowled to this left-hander yet and I think I can get him.’’ .

Chris Brown provided accurate support, and Radlett stayed in control. A total of 129 was never likely to be enough on a firm pitch and rapid outfield. In reply, Colin Warne and Paul Windmill hit a cluster of early boundaries, putting on 44 for the first wicket in six overs. Radlett cruised it, though Craig Riley’s farewell golden duck was an amusing hiccup.
