Match report For the first time this summer Radlett took glorious command with the bat and ended up crushing winners to go second in the table and blot out the memory of the previous week at Parkfield.

Matt Bell decided to bat first against dangerous opponents on what proved to be a good `cricket' wicket - a real Nick Searle special. Simon Randall (71) and Craig Riley (53) were rewarded for superlative strokeplay over a glassy outfield. Nevertheless, there was encouragement for any bowler who could find some sustained accuracy, as Jez Menzies and Meepa later showed.

Randall, stepping in for his unwell father that morning, began steadily in a second-wicket partnership of 74 with the in-form Jim Clarke. The tempo increased when the third wicket produced 92 at seven runs an over, with Randall's classic drives and Riley's cutting reducing Berkhamsted to onlookers.

At 180 for two in the 34th over, just when Bell was contemplating a 270 plus score, the magic ended. Riley was bowled attempting a premeditated pull, and the subsequent collapse transformed the innings from divine to earthly status. The loss of the last eight wickets for 49 was ugly but far from disastrous.

Berko had high hopes of challenging this score until Chris Brown and Sheri Jahangir reduced them to seven for three clean-bowled, leaving Radlett with the task of whittling their way to victory. Eight catches - a season's `best' -- were dropped, including three acceptable ones in a single Jahangir over, but Randall and Bell took scorchers and the final wicket duly fell with 4.3 overs to spare.
