Hexton v Radlett CC 4th XI on Sat 19 Jun 2004 at 1:30
Radlett CC Won 6 wickets

Match report Radlett claimed their fifth successive win and went to the top of the Division Six table, rarified heights beyond imagination a month previously.

This time Radlett accepted all their catches, with Josh Rose excelling at square-leg and mid-on and Luca Guerrini, 13, calmly accepting one at mid-off.

They allowed struggling Hexton to make a flying start on a sound but soft pitch. Jez Menzies removed the two leading scorers in successive balls – a lofted drive to Eddie Saunders at mid-off and, having crossed, the other batsman played across a slightly quicker straight one. This classic one-two stopped Hexton for a while, but a total of 200-plus looked probable until Charlie Randall stemmed the flow and picked up three wickets. Randall enhanced his good work by hitting 52; newcomer Paul Windmill picked up where he left off about 15 years previously – there were some classy strokes in his 39 – and Paul Wright batted with controlled aggression.
