Radlett CC Sunday II v Harrow on Sun 20 Jul 2008 at 1.30 p.m.
Radlett CC Lost by 5 wickets

Match report With the first team plying their trade at North Mymms, Richard Cameron's merry me (no looking at the team sheet Kids) are ready to take on Harrow's Sunday first XI. The average age of the team on Sunday was 17.5.

Camo win the toss and bats. The opening attack of Modeste and Gopi was as good as any in the second division and yet Camo and Neel Malde batted beautifully and played some fabulous shots and Richard scored a great 100 and Neel a wonderful 71, but they both fell within the same over and the innings lost a little bit of momentum.

We should have ended with 275/280 and to be honest I feel a little bit upset that we did not score 275 as we just lost the ability to nudge and nurdle (wherehave we heard that before)

Lloyd Paternott and Simon Gray tried to up the ante in the last 4 overs but Harrow used Modeste and Gopi to good effect at the end and the boys could not get the boundaries needed. 247 would be hard to get but the pitch was a good un!!

Enter the boys after a good Radlett tea and fast bower Cameron is wearing Arjun's gloves and pads. Tee Cee is joined in the scoe box by a very pleasant young man and Rob Watson and Hemel Malde recommence their former Under 15 opening partnership. Robbie gets the opener early and Karia soon follows but a good partnership develops and the scoring rate remains at 4 an over and Harrow are there or there about as the big Aussie Morris clouts 66 in 6 balls.

Shameel enters and the Aussie goes for a big heave and ater a run out is turned down the boys continue to pressure Harrow but Modeste played a fantastic knock as he brings Harrow home with one ball to spare.

A great game and played in good spirit with just a couple of little incidents that hurt but don't wound.

Thanks to Brendan Jones for umpiring mostly at both ends, Simeon for standing at square leg so that the players dnot have to, to the families watching (not Lucy who was sleeping).

What did we learn:

Neel Malde is ready for a high grade of cricket
Hasit Mehta gets better each week
Rob Watson led the line well and enjoyed being the senior partner
Ben Cherkas is another who should be playing a decent standard on Saturdays
Radlett has some talented younsters who with some encouragement and some nurturing should ensure the safe future of Radlett cricket.
Our fielding needs to be sharper and concentration maintained.

Overall impression, disappointment but not disaster.

A feeling very old Tee Cee.
