Match report In the 8th week of this season Radlett visited Codicote a small picturesque village in the Herts countryside. The weather could have intervened but play went ahead. Radlett lost the toss and were asked to bat on a springy slightly wet track with a wettish outfield. Team consisted of 6 youth players and the regular outfit seen each week in seniors. The juniors amassed a total of 17 runs between them in a total of 106. Of which Oliver Jackson looked promising but got out early. Shabbir Foyez did an excellent job to play a controlled innings of 34 before hoisting another to exit early. Vikram powered his way to 28 not out also hitting the only 6 of the game, but did not find any suitable mainstay in the tail. Brendan provided 20 overs of consolidating the collapse with an effort of 16 before he fell - playing both bravely and maturely. Codicote bowled well and the pitch provided lively bounce with batsman not reading the line the innings folded in the 35th over for only 106 runs. This seems to be a theme with low scores and poor contributions that needs to be halted quickly.
Codicote openers seemed to bat freely and hit a total of 20 boundaries with hardly any running between the wickets to earn their victory without loss of any wickets. The conditions had dried out and must have suited batting second. Most of bowlers were hit with ease and provided little impact on the innings. The only positive being only 3 extras in byes were given. Youth bowlers suffered heavily being hit for 17 & 16 runs in 1 over of their spells. Codicote are a strong side in the top end of the table. Radlett need to recover strongly by playing competitively this is the 7th played game 4th loss in a row and standing 17 in the division with only 67 points. A long road ahead to secure a Division 11 berth for next year at this stage.
