Match report Radlett V lost a Division 11 thriller by one wicket against their Knebworth Park counterparts at St Edmund's College, Ware, though it was a match they should have won.

Knebworth's last pair needed half a dozen runs for victory on a drying pitch and they managed to get home after few scares, mainly against Charlie Randall's left-arm spin. The game could have gone either way -- even a tie to emulate the fourth team on the same afternoon.

Radlett were left kicking themselves they did not score more than 61.
Poor upper order batting on an easy soft pitch -- the first three batsmen scored two runs between them -- left Tony Peck battling it out on his own with little support. He was caught and bowled for 25 and only Shabbir Foyez (11) and extras reached double figures. In retrospect a modest total of 100-plus should have been more than enough.

The wisdom Matt Barrett's decision to bat first became clear when Park made a hash of their reply after a good start as the pitch started to dry out. Vikram Rajput took two quick wickets and Matt Johnson claimed two more in his first over. Randall wheeled away for 11 overs to take 5-5, all singles, assisted by a diving bat-pad catch from the lively Foyez at silly mid-off as the match swung Radlett's way.
