Radletts 3rd campaign in Division 11 began after consolidating their place in 2007. Mike Dexter captain in charge won the toss at Hatfield Hyde and elected to bat. Pitch was well prepared on a hot and humid day. Shabbir Foyez and Ben Charles were the only batsman to show resistance on a slow outfield with mediocre bowlers. For the others cobwebs of early season needed to be overcome. Both brothers Ben and Joshua did well on debut in senior cricket as Ben hit 18 and Joshua ended on 9 n.o. as 113 was always a low score on a 200 pitch. Radlett bowlers were to be tested fully with Hatfields innings. They had established openers of prowess and shot range. Keerthi bowled well early and Shabbir followed from same end to take a wicket with his first ball caught at slip. Brendan too took a wicket when the batsman having reached 50 played a tired shot. Ben showed maturity behind the stumps to minimise excess extra runs. Overall bowlers had very little to play with and Hatfield reached their target within 25 overs to win comfortably.
Coming away with only 2 points was not what was anticipated but a sure win is now just a matter of time. Ending week 2 in the bottom region of the table leaves the team with a lot of graft in future matches.
