Radlett CC 3rd XI v Harpenden 111 on Sat 10 May 2008 at 1.30 p.m.
Radlett CC Lost by 3 wickets
This is a game that Radlett 111's will feel got away despite not posting a big score.
Skipper Iain Edwards won the toss and elected to bat and what looked like a strong batting line up was soon in trouble at 50-3, which was rescued to 128-7 and only got up to 163 thanks to some spectacular hitting from Zed Gitay, who hit 28 in 19 balls, including 18 from one over. Maybe a trick was missed by not promotong Zed as 163 looked slightly below ar on a good track.
At 39-0 Harpenden were cruising but enter the Prabhu, who bowled some fierce spinning cherries and secure 6 Harpenden scalps, including 3 fantastic snares by Colin Warne, wh rolld back he years with some good hands.
When Nick Tune pulled off a Jonty Rhodesque catch at backwards point off Roscoe, the 3;s had Harpenden 120-7 and a miracle looked on. Umfortunately this brought in Mike Cooper the Harps skipper and he proceeded to out Zed Zed by smashing 37, including 7 4's to take the game away from Radlett.
Altgether a good fight by the 3's but a feeling of what might have been. A few more runs, a couple of catches here and there, some smarter fielding, I am starting to sound like the England coach!!!!!!!
We saw a fabulous spell of bowling from Prabs which nearly turned the game our way. Lets keep on rolling and get the wins in.
Thansk to Birdy for umpiring and Tee Cee for scoring and of course the fabulous Tea Ladies from the Edwards family for the sumptuous teas.
