Match report Radlett 2s were frustrated at Old Finchleans on Saturday after winning the toss on a damp pitch but largely dry day. In truth, Radlett were largely frustrated by the young Depala twins who form the main bulk of the batting and bowling line-ups for Old Finchleans and they performed very impressively with both on the day.

Radlett did struggle bowling first with a ball that soon became damp but that should not take away from the skillful batting of the Depala twins and Radlett's fielding in the second half of the innings also left little to be desired. Once they were gone though, Radlett were left wondering what might have been as the rest of Old Finch batting was unable to maintain the early standard, admittedly whilst pushing for quick runs at the end.

Radlett were then held up by high quality spells of bowling from yes, you guessed it, the Depala twins!! The story is told by their combined analysis of 27 overs 6-78 compared with the rest of Old Finch bowling that returned no wickets for 106 runs from 20 overs. The pick of the Radlett batting was once again Johnny Barr with 55 not out as the effort turned to picking up as many bonus points as possible.

Skipper Nick Fielden said, “Sometimes you come up against sides with a couple of high quality players and they perform on the day. The Depalas were very impressive and I hope Old Finchleans can give them the higher level of cricket that they could play. I’m pleased with the effort we showed though and most weeks I am confident that our depth with bat and ball will be enough to get us across the line.”
