Radlett CC 2nd XI v Watford Town on Sat 03 May 2008 at 1.30 p.m.
Match was Drawn

Match report Radlett 2s got off to a solid but ultimately slightly disappointing start in the league against Watford Town on Saturday. Having lost the toss and been inserted Radlett performed well with the bat, always looking to be positive after judging that the pitch was slow but true and that 250 was likely to prove a very competitive target. Skipper Nick Fielden lead the way with a fluent 96 and he was excellently supported by David Robinson (64no) particularly after Radlett had rocked a little losing 3 wickets in quick succession.

Radlett declared early at the 50 over halfway mark and Watford came out of the blocks rapidly taking advantage of any loose Radlett bowling. Once the Watford skipper had fallen however, the story of the innings was really how Radlett let 6 chances spill and on a wicket where batsmen felt pretty secure, that was always going to prove costly. Paynter, Chaudry and Jackson were probably the pick of the attack though the match fizzled out a little as Watford rather tamely chose to block for a draw 4 wickets down. 14 points for Radlett.
