Match report
Radlett vs. High Wycombe
The return match of the Home Counties between Radlett and High Wycombe was always going to be an exciting one but in the end the weather had the final say and even a 5 wicket haul for Radlett's spinner Atul Sachdeva could not restrict High Wycombe to a total which could be chased.
Earlier in the day Radlett skipper Shane Burger won the toss and elected to bowl first. The game would only start after lunch as the pitch was waterlogged and needed time to dry out. The over's split would be changed from the conventional 66/54 to 50/40 and Burger must have thought that Radlett could restrict and then chase down in the allotted 40 over's. It did not all go to plan as the Radlett bowlers were being hit around the park and at one stage looked like a really big score could be on the cards. It was only until the introduction of Sachdeva that things turned around and he claimed a few quick wickets to force Wycombe to a lower total. Radlett's bowling and fielding this year has been really good and it was the first time that they had let themselves down. High Wycombe would reach a total of 238 in there 50 over's with L.Taylor being the main destroyer with 83.
Radlett got off to a poor start when Anish Patel was adjudged leg before wicket the first ball he faced. In walked Graham Dill to join the Middlesex player Kabir Toor. Together the two of them batted very positively and hit regular boundaries to keep the score board ticking. The tea interval brought more rain however and suddenly the over's were reduced to 30. This would be a tough task for Radlett to chase the runs but Dill and Toor thought otherwise, continuing there positive batting and running well between the wickets. Both reached there half centuries in quick time and at 121 for 1 off 19 over's the game was there for the taking. Graham Dill was stumped for a well played 50 trying to force the pace even more and when Gareth Berg lost his wicket for 11 the game was swinging in Wycombe's favour. Radlett would have to block out for a draw. High Wycombe did not make it easy and in the end Radlett would lose 7 wickets in the process handing High Wycombe more points. In the end fair play to both teams for wanting to get out on the field and make a game of it.
