Match report Radlett eased into the semi finals of the Becker Transport Cup after completing a comprehensive victory against Saracens Herts Premier league opposition Old Millhillians. Radlett will now entertain Welwyn Garden City in the last 4 that will see a repeat of the 2002 final.

Skipper Houghton won the crucial toss and elected to bat on a wicket which looked as if it could deteriorate. Nick Hampton continued his superb form and finished top score with a typically robust 69. He was assisted by fine performances by Graham Dill (45) who looked to be returning to his best and Dave Houghton who controlled the later stages of the innings with a quicker than run a ball 30.

With other batsman making significant contribution the men from Cobden Hill managed to reach 221 runs for the loss of 7 wickets from their 50 overs. It was always felt that a score close to 200 would always put pressure on the side batting second.

In reply from the moment that Stuart Browne’s first ball to Old Millhillians star Liam Davies leapt of a decent length to take the Australians gloves, it was clear that the home team would face an uphill struggle. Although Davies survived that scare it was not long before he was trudging back to the pavilion. His wicket was the fourth and by the time he departed Millhillians hopes looked all but lost.

While Kervin Marc, Dill & Browne did the early damage it was the diminutive figure of David Hegarty who took the plaudits whilst taking 3 wickets with his quick left arm off breaks he also claimed 3 catches including the one of Matt Cousens to end Millhillians innings on just 83.
