Match report Radlett’s form improvement over the weekend was confirmed in a limited over match which saw them account for Middlesex premier league champions Teddington to reach the last 16 of the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy. The victory was made more impressive as Teddington, last years beaten finalists were playing on their own Bushy Park ground.

Having won the toss Nick Fielden elected to bat and he and Nick Hampton soon set about the home teams bowling. Fielden was first out for a quick fire 38 from 32 balls but Hampton 75 and Matt Evans (76*) guided the visitors to a reasonable total. With Matt Cousens hitting a steady 21 towards the end of the innings Radlett set their hosts 237 to win.

Teddington’s reply got off to a terrible start when Stuart Browne had the dangerous Harrison caught behind the wicket by David Hanson off only the second ball of the innings. Browne completed an excellent 10 over spell with figures of 2-20. He was ably assisted by Oz Edwards (3-44) and some excellent fielding, in particular the diminutive Jon Freedman whose speed to the ball caused the run out of Tarrant. Indeed at 100 – 7 Radlett looked to be home and dry but a defiant 8th wicket stand of 78 ensured a tense finale. However Radlett were not to be outdone and with Evans returning to collect the final wicket and finish with Man of the Match figures of 4-34 they cruised into the next round with 28 runs to spare.

In the next round Radlett will travel to Kent division 1 table toppers Beckenham with the match due to be played on 20th July.
