Flitwick Cricket club v Radlett CC U15 on Sun 15 Jul 2007 at 10.00 am
Radlett CC Lost 5 wickets

Match report Overall I have a great feeling of disappointment, that we did not win this game and progress to the National Semi Finals, which is tempered by the feeling of watching thee side once again pull together to try and win.

I picked 16 players and knew 2 could not play and then found out about a third with a broken toe, but thought 13 players would turn up. We got to the ground and found 10 players with one ringing to say he was late and apologised. Luckily Josh Charles was watching big brother Ben and was able to make up the Eleven.

We lost the toss and were asked to bat and although we scored at 5 an over we lost a wicket every 8 balls which is not good enough and only used 13 of the 20 overs. This was a cardinal sin and in the end probably cost us dear.

Josh Hirschowitz (36) played a very good innings for the second week in a row, with some mighty hits and powerful blows and one sumptious cover drive, but no one could stay with him and help him along, so that we were out for 70 with Simon Moses's 5 being the next highest score off the bat. How we missed Basil, Lloyd, Hardain and Ben Cherkas with the bat.

71 to win does not sound a lot but our bowlers were brilliant, our fielding was terrific and the attitude on the picth was excellent.

Flitwick are a good side, well coached, well mannered and well behaved and on the day deserved to win but not befoe being given a fright

Daniel and Paras bowled diabolical first overs with the new ball b ut came back to bowl their spells very well indeed, although Thurstance showed what a good all round cricketere he is with a mature knock of 17 while Daniel was bowling with fire and brinstone and guile.

Aaron came on and bowled a beautiful spell to take 2-22 but Flitwick were always just up with the run rate. At 49-1 in the 10th over it looked over but Aaron and Sahil turned it round with wonderful spells until Feeney hit the wiining run with 5 overs to spare.

Pavir PAtel in his first game for the A team this year fielded like a demon and Josh and Simon prowled the covers with effect to make it hard for Flitwick, who now go on to meet Essex or Suffolk and we wish them well.

Over all I am as stated disappointed today but immensely proud of our achievements this year and over the last 4 years as well as I bow out, beaten but not broken.

I would like to say thank you to all the parents who have helped me out over the last 5 years. Dhiresh and Paul Miller have been a great help to me as has Pierro Guerrini who came and watched a team not including any of his family and umpired today.

Thank you to EVERY single boy who has played whether it be Daniel and Sahil who have played virtually every game or Tome who came in for one game and did not bat or bowl.

I have had a great time and now hand over the Under 15's to Dhiresh.
