Match report Mon 16 July 2007 Radlett Academy 150-4 beat The pioneers by 6 wickets.

We were pleased, once again, to welcome back the Indian Pioneers after being unable to accommodate them last season. We were faced with a keen team, excellent in the field but lacking enough quality in depth to trouble a strong Radlett side. The Pioneers were younger too, although their captain was very mature & talented for his age & impressed all our players.
The Pioneers won the toss & unfortunately chose to bat on a glorious afternoon..
We were pleased to be able to recruit Matt Lansley for this match & he opened the bowling with Rob Watson. Matt initially gave Harry Benjamin a tough time behind the stumps before he settled down. Rob was more difficult to get away at the other end & the Pioneers reached 39 at 5 an over before Watson induced an edge off the talented Abhimanyu to Benjamin... After that there was a steady flow of wickets. Dan Cohen bowled his inswingers well to take 3 economical wickets (3-12 in 6 overs) whilst Paras Shah impressed with his out swingers to take 3-12 in his 7 overs. Matt Lansley eventually got a deserved wicket with a good ffull length ball. Hasit Mehta was economical but he & Sahil shah, our spinners, were wicket less. Rob Watson took 3 catches the first one a brilliant one high at point. A total of 113 did not seem enough .
Lloyd Paternott & Ollie Jackson opened calmly for 31 before Ollie was well run out. Aron comfort went cheaply but captain Matt Soffair looked calm as he & Lloyd accumulated the runs. The spinners made it difficult initially, but when the pace bowlers returned the scoring quickened, Matt eventually LBW for 42. Lloyd did not quite make his 50, falling on 49 but by then Rob Watson was scoring freely & victory soon followed., Rob undefeated on 45.
