Match report Radlett won a thrilling match, chasing down a big total with 10 balls left.Shenley Village batted first and at the 10 over mark were only 27-3 after being restricted by some accurate bowling from Alex Shorthose Luke Paice and Harry Copley.Will Wright accounted for both openers. Shenley Village then put on a fantastice display of hitting to accelerate towards 110.The damage was really done in two overs that went for 16 and 22.Not bad bowling just good clean hitting.Will took two more wickets and reaaserted some control at the death but it was a tricky target. A couple of catches went down that could have significantly reduced the total and the fielding needs to sharpen up.
Jaimin Patel and Will opened and played confidently putting on 35 in 5 overs.Jaimin hit 3 glorious 4s through the off side and looks a strong batsman for this season.This year was the first time the LBW has been enforced for this team and both openers were given LBW.Will has the bruise on his hip to prove it..........
Then came the match changing partnership,61 runs put on by Harry and Alex as they took full toll of some inexperienced bowling.Impressively, the boys did not panic,mixing full blooded strikes with sensible running.Harry retired on 30 and with the better bowlers returning we had a wobble,losing 2 batsmen in 3 balls. Rikhil Rughani cut a composed figure at the crease blocking out the remainder of the 18th over leaving 5 to win off 2 overs. Nerves were jangling but a no ball soothed the nerves. Alex then hammered the next ball through extra cover for the match winning 4.
A great team performance in a game plaed in a good spirit.
MOM; Alex Shorthose.Harry also played superbly but Alex's 28 saw us home notwithstanding the whiff of panic at the other end.Not a bad way to mark your first league game for RCC.
