Radlett CC 4th XI v Watton-at-Stone on Sat 31 May 2003 at 1:30
Radlett CC Lost by 6 wickets
Match report
Radlett 4's hosted Watton on Stone at Cobden Hill on a very hot and humid day.Perfect cicket conditions.
Radlett won the toss and elected to bat first on what looked like a road and a high run scoring wicket. Some said "a very good toss toss to win."We opened up with our original openers Mike and Scott. Watton on stone opened with to spinners, looking to frustate Radlett buy bowling a very tight line and length which they did very well. Scott and Mike both started well and looked like they could both be in for some runs. As the runs started to come quicker a call from Scott which was "yes, no, wait.........sorry!" ment that Mike was run out by three yards.24-1 was 24-2 an over later. Scott chipping the ball up for a easy catch for mid-off to take. This was the start of a very weak Radlett batting performance. Wickets of Charlie Randall, Ben Thornhill and Prabu Arumagam were lost for just 35 runs.59-5. The next partnership consisted of just 11 runs before Steve Morris was stumped and caught for a well earnt 23!70-4. Radlett only made another 50 runs for the 4 wickets we had. Matt Bell batting well for 18 and skipper Jamie batting very well for 25. Radlett's innings was over and on that wicket and our batting line up we were looking to reach 200+. We fell some way short of that and reached a dismall 120 all out.
After tea we started with the old ball and opened with Charlie and Prabu. Both bowled very well Prabu in particular but we couldn't find a break through. On came Ramesh and Jez and again both bowlin good and 2 wickets came in quick succession. Ramesh claiming both. A few more overs from each bowlers and the new ball was taken. On came Scott and Toby. Scott Started aggresive a quick and also claimed 2 wickets, Toby bowling well also but not getting any wickets. In the end a 6 wicket defeat for Radlett only collectind 4 points. A very, Very poor display from Radlett.
