Match report This was an inept performance by Radlett, who allowed a decent enough Old Finchleians side to out-bowl and –bat them, culminating in a defeat for the home side by 73 runs at Cobden Hill.

Radlett won the toss and decided to bowl. The pitch did little that was outrageous, but the Radlett bowling was bland. Finchleians ran between the wickets with impunity, so without any big hitting reached 201 for the loss of only 5 wickets at the end of their maximum allotted 53 overs.

There is little to applaud Radlett for apart from flashes of brilliance from Colin Warne behind the stumps. The bowling was at best limiting, but never penetrative. The pitch must therefore have been a motorway.

If it was, our batting must have been really bad. After a reasonable start, Radlett lost four wickets for four runs, and at 26-4 were effectively out of the game.

The rest of the batting was a procession, with only Taylor threatening any permanence, and Gitay any flair. Prabs Arumagam has a difficult name but a splendid batting technique, and will score many stylish runs in the future.

Aside from that, there little to add to this discouraging display. On this showing, promotion is extremely unlikely.
